Upcoming Dates
Informational meeting for parents of newly included students is scheduled for Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 from 9:15-10:30, meeting in the MMS cafeteria.
On Tuesday, January 11th we would like to invite middle school parents – particularly parents of 8th graders - to learn about the 9th grade program. The meeting will be Middlesex library from 9:15-10:00.
Idea 5th grade Central City election rally will be held in the MMS cafeteria on Wednesday,January 12th from 1:40- 3:00.
Idea Referrals
Darien’s Gifted Program Students can be recommended by their teachers or their parents for Darien’s program for gifted children, Idea, between December 13, 2010 and January 15, 2011. If you believe your child may be a candidate for Idea, you are encouraged to discuss the possibility with your child’s teacher. To further assist you in your deliberations, you are encouraged to visit the Idea Program website at www.darienps.org/ideaprogram for more information about the program and the identification process. If parents are interested in recommending their child for the gifted program, they should write a letter to their child’s teacher and submit it no later than January 15, 2011. Please not that the grades for OLSAT assessment this year are grades 3 and 4. Students recommended on other grades levels will be assessed using the OLSAT as well.
